Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

The short version

Yes to Photos is a local-only desktop application. Your photos, the metadata we generate, and all AI results stay on your device. We run no servers for the app, no cloud sync, and no telemetry. The one time your information leaves your machine is when you choose to buy a license — that purchase is handled by our payment processor, Lemon Squeezy.

What the app collects

The Yes to Photos desktop app does not collect, transmit, or store your personal data on our servers. Specifically, it has:

  • No analytics or tracking scripts
  • No user accounts or sign-in
  • No cloud uploads of photos or metadata
  • No telemetry, crash reporting, or usage statistics
  • No cookies (the app runs locally on your machine)

On-device AI

All AI features — face recognition, semantic search, and OCR — run entirely on your device using local models. No images or derived data are sent to external AI services. The app uses your device's CPU/GPU for all processing.

Your photos and local data

Your original photo files are never modified — the app accesses them in read-only mode. Application data (the index database, thumbnails, and AI embeddings) is stored locally on your device in the app's data directory, and you can delete it at any time from the app's settings.

Buying a license

When you purchase a license, the checkout and payment are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. To complete and support your purchase, Lemon Squeezy collects the information you provide at checkout — typically your name, email address, billing details, and payment information — under their own privacy policy. We receive your order confirmation and email address so we can deliver your license key and provide support.

To check that a license is valid, the app may make a network request to Lemon Squeezy's license-validation service. This sends only your license key — never your photos or library data.

This website

This site is a static landing page. Fonts and images are self-hosted and served from the same domain — there are no third-party CDNs, no tracking pixels, no analytics, and no cookies. Our hosting provider may keep standard server request logs (such as IP address and user agent) for security and reliability; these are not used to profile or track you.

Your rights

Because the app holds your data only on your own device, you remain in direct control of it — delete it from the app at any time. For the limited purchase information we hold (your order record and email), you may request access, correction, or deletion by emailing us. We honor applicable rights under privacy frameworks such as the GDPR and CCPA. Note that we and Lemon Squeezy may need to retain some transaction records to meet tax and legal obligations.

Data retention

Local app data persists on your device until you delete it. Purchase and support records are retained only as long as needed for support, accounting, and legal compliance, then deleted.

Security

Your library never leaves your device, which removes an entire class of cloud-breach risk. Payment data is handled by Lemon Squeezy over encrypted connections; we never see or store your full payment card details.

Children

Yes to Photos is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
